In the depths of discovery and the weeks afterward, my brain was in overdrive - from the moment my eyes opened to the moment I finally passed out from exhaustion, I was flooded with all kinds of questions, scenarios, self-deprecating thoughts, and that "nasty chic" voice in my head that put me down and questioned every move I made and every step I took.  It was exhausting. the battle raging in my head and in my body, I was a disconnected mess.

Having our hearts shattered into a million pieces brings agony and pain that is completely unbearable, so much so that we can't think straight or function. 

Heartbreak causes severe emotional pain. We simply feel it, viscerally—in our chest, our throat, and our gut. Our heart simply aches—which is why we say we have a broken heart. But while the visceral sensations of heartbreak lead us to focus on our heart and gut, the organ we should be focused on is the brain. When our heart gets broken into a million pieces, our brain responds dramatically and it is these reactions that are responsible for all the terrible "symptoms" we associate with heartbreak & betrayal.
